Samsung Galaxy A18 4G: Specifications, Features and Performance
The Samsung Galaxy A18 4G is a budget Samsung smartphone built around a large Super AMOLED display, a 5,000mAh battery and Samsung's latest Android software. It also brings a new Exynos 1610 chipset, a 50MP main camera with OIS and an IP64 rating for protection against dust and water splashes.

Announced on September 15, 2026 and released on September 18, the Galaxy A18 4G runs Android 17 with One UI 9 and comes with a promise of up to six generations of Android OS updates and six years of security updates.

The phone is aimed at users who want a familiar Samsung experience without moving into the company's more expensive Galaxy A and S series models.

Design and Build Quality

The Galaxy A18 4G measures 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.7mm and weighs 196g. It has a glass front protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, while the rear panel and frame are made from plastic.

Samsung has given the phone an IP64 rating, meaning it is dust-tight and protected against water splashes. This provides some extra protection for everyday use but does not make the phone suitable for submersion in water.

The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and supports two Nano-SIM cards. It is available in Black, Gray and Light Blue.

Display

The Galaxy A18 4G features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It has a 1080 x 2340-pixel resolution, a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of around 385ppi.

The Super AMOLED panel gives the phone a key advantage for its price range, with the technology providing strong contrast and deep blacks. The 90Hz refresh rate also makes scrolling through menus, websites and supported apps feel smoother than a standard 60Hz panel.

The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Samsung has retained a waterdrop-style notch for the front camera, along with relatively noticeable bezels around the screen.

Performance and Processor

The Galaxy A18 4G is powered by Samsung's Exynos 1610 chipset with an octa-core CPU consisting of two cores clocked at up to 2.4GHz and six efficiency cores running at up to 2.0GHz. Graphics are handled by the Mali-G68 GPU.

This is a new Exynos chipset for Samsung's budget range and replaces the MediaTek Helio G99 used by the Galaxy A17 4G.

The phone comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of internal storage depending on the configuration. Storage can also be expanded with a microSD card, although the card uses the shared SIM slot.

For everyday tasks such as browsing, messaging, social media, video streaming and light multitasking, the hardware is designed around basic smartphone use rather than demanding performance.

Independent testing has found the current software experience usable but noted that the 4GB RAM configuration can limit how smoothly the phone handles heavier multitasking.

Camera Features

The Galaxy A18 4G has a triple rear camera setup led by a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, autofocus and optical image stabilisation.

The main camera is joined by a 5MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. Samsung also provides features such as LED flash, panorama and HDR.

For video recording, the rear camera can record at up to 1080p at 30fps.

On the front, there is a 13MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. It can also record 1080p video at 30fps.

The 50MP main camera and OIS give the phone a more capable primary camera setup, while the ultrawide camera provides a wider perspective for landscapes, group photos and other situations where more of the scene needs to fit into the frame.

Battery and Charging

The Galaxy A18 4G packs a 5,000mAh battery, which is a familiar capacity for Samsung's budget Galaxy A series.

It supports 25W wired charging. Samsung says the phone can reach 50 per cent charge in about 30 minutes under its stated conditions.

The charging speed is not among the fastest available on Android phones, but the 5,000mAh capacity gives the Galaxy A18 4G a solid foundation for everyday use.

Samsung also states that the battery is rated for up to 1,200 charge cycles.

Software and Features

The Galaxy A18 4G launches with Android 17 and Samsung's One UI 9. This gives it one of Samsung's newest software experiences straight out of the box.

One of the phone's biggest software advantages is its long update commitment. Samsung says the Galaxy A18 4G will receive six generations of operating system updates and six years of security updates.

The phone also supports Google's Gemini and an updated Circle to Search experience. Samsung says users can use Gemini for actions such as sending messages or adding events to their calendar through natural-language requests.

Other features include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BDS and QZSS. NFC is also supported depending on the market or region.

There is no 3.5mm headphone jack, while wired connectivity is handled through a USB Type-C 2.0 port.

Gaming and Everyday Performance

The Galaxy A18 4G is primarily designed for everyday smartphone tasks rather than heavy gaming.

The Exynos 1610 and Mali-G68 GPU can handle casual games and lighter titles, while the 90Hz AMOLED display provides a smoother interface during normal use.

For more demanding games, users should expect to adjust graphics settings to maintain a consistent experience. The 4GB RAM configuration is also something to consider if you regularly switch between several demanding apps.

For browsing, social media, streaming, messaging and other common tasks, the Galaxy A18 4G provides the type of hardware expected from a budget Galaxy smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy A18 4G Experience

The Galaxy A18 4G brings several features that make it more than a basic budget smartphone. Its 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, 90Hz refresh rate, 50MP main camera with OIS, 5,000mAh battery and IP64 protection give it a well-rounded hardware package.

Its software support is another major part of the phone. With Android 17, One UI 9, six generations of OS updates and six years of security updates, Samsung is giving the device a longer software lifespan than many budget phones receive.

The main compromises are the 4GB RAM, 25W charging, lack of 5G and USB 2.0 connectivity. Still, for users specifically looking for a Samsung phone with a large AMOLED display, expandable storage, a stabilised main camera and long-term software support, the Galaxy A18 4G offers a straightforward package.
